![]() ![]() I don't want to rain on your parade, a 512 is a nice little rifle, but if you want to shoot silhouette even for fun and the social experience, I would look for a different rifle to start out.perhaps a 513T or Winchester 75T would be a better choice.įor silhouettes you are going to be changing your scope (point of impact) all the time while moving from one distance to another. People are shooting high quality ammo from top quality bench rest set ups with 24X or even 36X scopes to be successful at this game. If you are in an open class you will be up against Remington 40X rifles, Winchester 52's, Anschutz rifles and custom built rifles.Īt my local gun club we compete once a month and we shoot 1/5 size silhouettes at 50, 100, 150 and 200 meters (216 yards). The 512 is simply not designed for this unless you are in a "Sporter" class and even then you will be competeing with rifles by Anschutz and Winchester 52 Sporters, Remington 541S rifles and many others. The 512X rifle is a fine little rifle for hunting and plinking and as this class of rifle goes that are quite accurate and are quality built rifles, but I fear that you may be quickly disappointed if you plan to use it for silhouette shooting. ![]()
